Production Camp Knife

No mid tech production line would be complete without a chopper. The Fiddleback Forge production Camp Knife is your go-to knife for any serious chopping task. This is one serious knife: at almost 12 inches long and weighing in at 14 oz. this knife is ready to power through nearly anything.

The micarta scales sandwich a massive 3/16" (4.75mm) slab of CPM 3V steel. Each one of the Camp Knives is hand tuned and assembled here at Fiddleback Forge, just like all of our production knives to make them a true mid-tech production knife. Topping off the packaging is an included, top quality leather belt sheath from JRE Industries.

For large knives, Andy Roy likes to model his knife handles after the khukuri. This allows the camp knife to be held in two positions, increasing or decreasing the "snap" used when chopping. This knife is both a real workhorse and a pleasure to use. Besides the fact that a fixed blade will never close on your finger like a folding knife can, you also get the added benefit of being able to prepare messy foods with no worries of it getting pressed into hard to clean nooks and crannies in the knife handle. There is no argument that fixed blades are simply more hygienic, and on a belt rather than in a pocket, easier to reach when needed.

From the outset, this knife was developed to be a solid chopper for more heavy-duty bushcrafting/camping tasks. While this knife may not be the ideal choice for a little whittling, when you have real work to do to cear a path, make a fire, etc., this is the knife that will get the job done.
